Gilroy – Police released a sketch Monday of the suspect who robbed a Bank of America branch just before closing time Friday night.
At 5pm a 5-foot, 10-inch white male entered the branch at Camino Arroyo wearing a dark coat, dark jeans, a beanie cap, and carrying a backpack. He claimed he was armed with a weapon and handed the bank teller a note demanding money.
No weapon was seen and the suspect fled the the area with about $2,000 in cash, police said. No one was harmed in the robbery.
Witnesses described the man being in his early 20s, with dark hair and weighing about 150 pounds. “Hopefully someone will have some inkling as to who this could be,” said Sgt. Kurt Svardal. Police are working with bank security in an attempt to gather more information about the robbery.
Currently, there are no suspects.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been notified.
