Just when you think things can’t get any hotter, gear up – some of the hottest (or perhaps coolest?) classic and custom cars will be on display in several car shows throughout the area during the next few weeks. Many include food, wine, kids activities, arts and crafts, and live entertainment, making the shows a family-friendly way to spend the day.

One particularly well-known show is the Happy Days Car Show in San Martin, happening Aug. 20 at San Martin Country Park. The annual event, now in its fourth year, is a fundraiser for the San Martin Neighborhood Alliance. This year will feature about 100 classic and custom cars from 1976 or older. Several local car dealers sponsoring the event also will be showing a variety of hybrid cars, and two bands – The Usual Suspects and JJ Hawg – will be playing on two different stages, said Sylvia Hamilton, president of the neighborhood alliance.

“We also have some unbelievable raffle and auction items, three food vendors offering tri-tip sandwiches, barbecue, Mexican and more,” she said. “This really is meant as a community-geared event that everybody in the family would join in on,” she said.

So, right after you cool down, head out to catch some of the hottest cars around. Here are some of the shows coming up.
