WERC Chevy’s night
GILROY
– Chevy’s restaurant will host a fund raiser for the Wildlife
Education and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 8440
Murray Ave. Just go to Chevy’s for lunch or dinner, then place your
meal receipt in the designated box at the host’s stand. Chevy’s
will donate 20 percent of the receipts co
llected that day to WERC.
It’s fast, easy and provides fund so WERC can care for orphaned,
sick and injured native wildlife and help educate the public about

Living with diabetes

GILROY – People with diabetes are invited to Saint Louise Regional Hospital the fourth Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. for classes on how to live with diabetes. The class is specifically for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or who are ready for a fresh start before seeing their doctor. Spanish speaking educators will be present. People are invited to bring one family member.

The hospital is also offering interactive classes from 7 to 9 p.m.: Tuesday, Feb. 26, What can I eat?; Tuesday, March 5, Heart and Sole; Tuesday, March 26, Putting it all together. All classes are held in the board room. Details:

Civic veterans grant

GILROY – Wal-Mart is accepting applications for the Civic Veterans Grant. Kiwanis, Jaycees, Rotary, Lions Club, VFW and American Legion are encouraged to apply. All grants must be approved at the Home Office and all organizations must have a tax status 501c4 and 501c19. Budget money varies by store location. Applications can be picked up at the

Friends of animals

SAN MARTIN – The Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter will hold an open house on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. until noon at the shelter, 12370 Murphy Ave. Learn about the many volunteer opportunities available while taking a behind the scenes tour of the shelter. All ages are welcome, however you must be at least 18 to handle the animals. Details: 683-4186.

‘Author!’ ads

GILROY – The Gilroy High School Art and Literary Guild is offering a win-win opportunity for local businesses wanting to get their name out and support a local cause. The Guild publishes a yearly magazine, “Author! Author!”, featuring the art and writing of GHS students. It needs financial help in producing the

multi-section glossy.
