GILROY – Dr. Betty Kamen, a world-renowned author and nutrition educator, will be giving a lecture followed by a book signing at Booksmart Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Kamen, with graduate degrees in psychology and nutrition education, is internationally known as a distinguished author, lecturer and nutritionist consultant.

She is in demand as a radio and talk show host with countless media appearances, more than 500 articles published in national magazines and 23 books to her credit.

Her lecture will be discussing the sage, nontoxic and medically valid alternatives to hormone replacement therapy. This will be followed by a question and answer segment where the audience can get personalized answers to their medical concerns.

Kamen also will do a book signing to promote her new book, “1,001 Health Secrets,” a definitive health guide helping to resolve many of the controversies in alternative health care. The book showcases science-based nutrition information in a first-of-its-0kind compendium of alternative health hints to live by.
