Petty theft

A thief or thieves went into an unlocked silver 2002 Honda Civic on Murray Avenue and stole a pair of sunglasses valued at $10 and a cell phone headset valued at $25, between 5 p.m. Feb. 11 and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 12.

A thief was cited after taking a girl’s cell phone from her locker on IOOF Avenue, 11:15 a.m. Feb. 12.

A thief or thieves stole a license plate from a blue 2000 Chevrolet Silverado near Carmel and Third streets, 4:15 p.m. Feb. 12.

A thief or thieves used a Church Street resident’s ATM card to make several purchases, between Jan. 16 and 23.

Thieves entered a business on Camino Arroyo and selected multiple items and took them without paying for them, 1:45 p.m. Feb. 14. One of the suspects was identified by store security from a prior arrest for shoplifting in December.

A thief entered a store on Camino Arroyo, took two purses valued at $140 and fled in a green 1996 GMC Jimmy, 12:08 p.m. Feb. 15. The thief used the same vehicle the day before to rob the same location.

Two juveniles were arrested for shoplifting after taking shirts, cologne and a necklace, total value of $167, from a store on Camino Arroyo, 2:45 p.m. Feb. 15.

Fraud

A thief or thieves used a Hanna resident’s Social Security number to purchase a DirecTV subscription in Gilroy, 10:48 a.m. Feb. 12.

Animal bite

A dog bit an unidentified person’s leg on Monterey Street, 11:30 a.m. Feb. 12.

Identification theft

A thief or thieves stole a Festa Aglio Drive resident’s identification, Sept. 30, 2007.

Injury accident

A white 2007 Ford Taurus and a white 2002 Cadillac Escalade collided on Murray Avenue, 6:56 p.m. Feb. 12.

DUI

Harry Valton Robinson was arrested for driving under the influence after running a stop sign at more than 35 mph over the speed limit, near Crawford Drive and Wren Avenue, 8:30 p.m. Feb. 12. The passenger, Debora Carol Robinson, was arrested for being drunk in public.

Animal

Refugio Isidro was cited after his dogs on Wren Avenue caused a nuisance by barking, 8:55 p.m. Feb. 12.

Residential burglary

A burglar or burglars took a maroon EEE PC laptop from a residence on the 9000 block of Kern Avenue, 8:19 p.m. Feb. 12. The victim suspects it was her ex-husband.

A burglar or burglars removed a board from the rear window of a home on Murray Avenue and pried the window open to enter the residence, between Feb. 9 and 13. It appeared unknown people had been living in the home. A board on the front door was also removed, and the deadbolt to the front door was destroyed.

A burglar of burglars tried to slide windows open to enter a residence on Chestnut Street, 5:26 p.m. Feb. 13. The alarm sounded and the burglar or burglars fled prior to police arrival. Prints were collected from the window.

Found property

An unidentified person found a BMX bike with a yellow frame and black handle bars on Wren Avenue, 8 a.m. Feb. 13.

An unidentified person found a black and gray jacket and a cell phone at Monterey Bay Laundry on Wayland Lane, 8:57 p.m. Feb. 15.

Grand theft

A thief entered a store on East 10th Street and took a Dell laptop valued at $500 from the store countertop, between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Feb. 11.

A thief or thieves stole a Samsung cell phone valued at $349 and $300 in cash from a woman on Rogers Lane, between 8:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and 6:51 a.m. Feb. 14. A suspect denied taking the money and phone.

A thief or thieves took a Bravia TV valued at $700 and a Handycam camcorder valued at $700 from a residence on 600 block of Sherwood Drive, 7:19 p.m. Feb. 15. The victim believes the items were stolen by a family member.

Missing juvenile

A juvenile ran away from a residence on Adams Court, 7 p.m. Feb. 12.

A juvenile was returned to a residence on IOOF Avenue, 9:47 p.m. Feb. 15.

Vandalism

A vandal or vandals damaged the inside door of cell no. 5 at the Gilroy Police Department, 7301 Hanna St., 9:51 a.m. Feb. 14.

Assault

Renee Perez was arrested after attempting to leave a residence on Lilly Avenue while intoxicated, 3:08 a.m. Feb. 15. Another person tried to stop her at the front door, but Perez forced her way out, scratching the victim in the chest and face.
