Christopher High School students and faculty alike will kick off the school’s Black Box Theatre production season with “The Memorandum,” a comedy by Czech playwright Vaclav Havel.

By partnering with Odyssey Theatre Company, the CHS drama class has created more than just a play, but a project that integrates the performing arts with the school’s English and social studies curriculum, said CHS drama teacher Kate Booth. Every CHS student will view the play during their English class and then decipher the performance as if it were a text, Booth said.

The project has also provided the student performers an opportunity to work with more experienced performers and professional director Dennis Beasley.

The play will be performed twice for the Gilroy community, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 and 16 at the CHS Black Box Theatre, 850 Day Road. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online at odysseytheatre.org.
