early Thursday morning after a search revealed methamphetamine,
cocaine and marijuana throughout the home.
Police arrested several suspected Norteñ o gang members at a residence on Eigleberry Street early Thursday morning after a search revealed methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana throughout the home.
Officers also took two children – a newborn and a 10 month old – from the home into protective custody and turned a third juvenile over to his parents.
About 4:40 a.m. Thursday, the Gilroy Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team served a search warrant at 7216 Eigleberry St., a residence police had been investigating for some time.
“This same residence has been the subject of several other search warrants, probation searches, etc., over the last few years,” wrote Sgt. Joseph Deras in a press release.
Members of the United Narcotic Enforcement Team aided Gilroy police in serving the search warrant.
During the early-morning search, police encountered several suspected Norteño gang members in and around the residence, Deras said. A woman and her two young children were also present.
“The narcotics were accessible to both children,” Deras said. “The conditions present were deplorable and uninhabitable.”
Police turned the children over to Child Protective Services.
The search turned up unspecified amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, police said.
Police arrested several adults and detained one juvenile until his parents arrived. Rodolfo Duarte, 20, and Moises Torres, 25, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale; Antonio De Jesus Perez, 19, was arrested for resisting, obstructing or delaying a police officer; Michael James Velasquez, 19, was arrested for giving false identification to a police officer; and Sendy Jouhana Chavez, 21, the mother of the two children, was arrested for felony child endangerment, police said. They were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
