Dear Editor:

I am getting tired of all the prudish sentiment in America. Who do the Christian fanatics think they are? I say legalize cannibalism. Why not? The only prohibition I know of comes from the Bible. The Bible is outdated, antiquated, full of fairy tales. We don’t need prohibitions against cannibalism … anymore than we do for rape, incest, prostitution, polygamy, murder, stealing, alcohol and drug abuse, perjury, prejudice … I’m exhausted already. Why can’t we all just get along?!

Just open the schools to anything goes. Why all the rules? What’s so harmful about a teacher that encourages unprincipled children to have a little sexual fun with their play-acting? What’s the big deal with boys walking the hallways, holding hands and kissing? Are we so prudish?

Gilroy, have it your way. Either chuck the Bible with all its loving prohibitions or get serious about your religion. Are you a Christian? What do you stand for? What do you believe in? Evolution? Are you a Catholic? Do you believe in abortion? Do you vote for those that support abortion? Live your faith. Live the faith you profess. Or are you like Ted Kennedy or John Kerry, who both profess to be Catholic but support abortion to the hilt?

What good is that kind of faith?

Seriously, we cannot imagine a society that would legalize cannibalism.

However not that many years ago America would never have even considered gay marriage.

Where do we go from here?
