DEAR EDITOR:

This letter is greatly overdue, yet absolutely necessary!

I would like to thank Graniterock for their generous donation of pavers and other materials that were needed for our project at Luigi Aprea School.

Many areas at our school were in desperate need of walkways to cross the dirt planting areas. Because employees were readily available to give their expert advice when choosing what materials to use, and gave great instructions on how to lay the pavers, our volunteer team was able to successfully lay the pavers and make some beautiful walkways.

The children and parents worked diligently and passionately while digging the trenches for the paver areas. Some of the children hauled the bricks to the areas in need, while others ran tools back and forth. Some kids kept areas clean by sweeping, and others pulled the wagons of excess dirt to designated areas at the school. All of these jobs were an important part of completing the task at hand.

I would like to encourage families to get involved in projects at your school and in your community. It was a pleasure to work with the many volunteers and I know they would agree that working together as a team was an awesome experience never to be forgotten.

The next time the opportunity arises to be a volunteer; Go For It! You’ll probably meet some very nice people. I know I did.

Again, thank-you Graniterock for your donation. Without it, this project would not have taken place.

For all of the businesses that donate to our schools for raffle prizes, projects and other functions I would also like to say thanks. Your donations make a difference for our schools.

I personally try to support those businesses that give to our schools and our community.
