– Several Gilroy residents won Member’s Choice Awards during the
annual South Valley Civic Theatre Member’s Choice Awards Show for
their work in the South Valley Civic Theatre, including Hanna Curd,
Jessica Dameron and Scott Glasspool for Best Youth Actresses and
Actor in a Minor Role.
Gilroy – Several Gilroy residents won Member’s Choice Awards during the annual South Valley Civic Theatre Member’s Choice Awards Show for their work in the South Valley Civic Theatre, including Hanna Curd, Jessica Dameron and Scott Glasspool for Best Youth Actresses and Actor in a Minor Role.
Other locals who won awards are Cari Love, Beth Dewey, Elizabeth Houts, Steve Kurd, April Oulette, Elizabeth Ferroti and Lori Castro.
Awards were presented Aug. 7 in numerous categories for the 2003-2004 theater season.
Taking home the four top awards of the evening were San Jose resident Daniel Byshenk, who won Best Youth Actor as Peter in “Peter Pan”; Los Banos resident Christiana Brady, who won Best Youth Actress as Wendy in “Peter Pan”; Morgan Hill resident Colleen Chipman and Gilroy resident Joy Reynolds who tied for Best Adult Actress for their roles in “Guys and Dolls” and Gilroy resident Mitch Magnsi won Best Adult Actor as Captain Hook in “Peter Pan.”
Members of the South Valley Civic Theatre received ballots several weeks prior to the award show. They filled them out the ballots then mailed them back. They were then counted by the shows producers, in a process similar to the Academy Awards.
The local awards show featured performances of select scenes from the previous season’s shows, including Peter Pan and Guys and Dolls, and a preview of the first show of next season, “Moon Over Buffalo.” The awards show was produced by Becky Kaiser of Morgan Hill and Joy Reynolds of Gilroy, and emceed by Gilroy residents and relatives Frank, Del and Kathryn McGill.
