Mildred is with the Lord, and her body will be laid to rest at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga, CA. during a private burial. A celebration of her life, open to family and friends, will be held at Beth-El Baptist Church (Hwy 101 & Tennant Ave. in Morgan Hill, CA) on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 11:00 A.M.  Mildred died peacefully in her sleep at home on March 31, 2014.
 A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband and love of 62 years, Joseph Albert Plicka, and five children: Joseph Lee Plicka (wife Sally), Judith Plicka, Susan Mildred Vares (husband Kenneth), Patrick Plicka (wife Alyssa), and Timothy Plicka (wife Brenda), who miss her greatly. She also had six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who were her joy. She was also well loved by her surviving sisters Mercedes Hermans (husband Leo) and Marlene Hansen (husband Terry), and her brothers Leonard (wife Terry) and Leroy (wife Grace) Schoenfeld who predeceased her, and many nieces and nephews.
 Mildred was born in Oak Park, IL, and married Joe in 1952. They moved to Saratoga, CA, in 1966 and retired to Gilroy, CA, in 1997.
 She loved to walk, read, and garden. A member of Beth-El Baptist Church in Morgan Hill, CA, her faith in Jesus Christ provided her great calm and was her life’s foundation. Her love of the Scriptures was a central part of her life.
 Her life has been the inspiration for many of her family and friends.
