Robert E. “Bob” McDonald died after a long illness on Friday, Dec. 13 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy.

Born in Minnesota in 1927, Robert was a retired quality controller for Teledyne McCormick Selph who served in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II, from 1945 to 1947.

A member of the Sacred Heart Church and BPOE 1436 of Hollister, Robert was also an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He is survived by daughter Pamela Dore of Hollister; sons Eric McDonald of El Cerrito and Steven McDonald of Santa Cruz; grandchildren Nicholas Littlejohn of Santa Cruz, Robbie McDonald and Katie McDonald of El Cerrito.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church with a funeral mass followed by memorial services provided by the Hollister Elks Lodge at the Church. Interment will follow at St. Benedict Church columbarium.
