Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless. St. Joseph’s Family Center
will need about 80 pies (any kind) and the Salvation Army needs 25

Stop dating violence
GILROY – Community Solutions in partnership with the Gilroy High School Student Service Center is hosting a workshop for parents on the dynamics of dating violence, what you should do if your teen is in an unhealthy relationship and is being mentally or physically abused. The workshop will discuss signs to look for and how to refer and use dating and domestic violence services. The workshop is today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Gilroy High School Student Service Center. Gilroy Little League kickoff
GILROY – Gilroy Little League is kicking off the 2003 season with two upcoming dates for walk-in registration. Mark you calendars for Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Cove Family Restaurant (303 First St.). A copy of a birth certificate is required to register your ball player (copy machine will be on site).
Gay teens workshop
GILROY – A workshop on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender teens will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gilroy Family Resource Center, Suite A, 8833 Monterey Road. The four-hour workshop will include presentations from the Billy DeFrank Lesbian and Gay Community Center, Parents, families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, as well as lunch and more. Basketball skill building
GILROY – Children in third through sixth grades have the opportunity to build on their current basketball skills. Fundamental passing techniques and dribbling will be just some of the information covered through demonstration drills and skill analysis. Classes are divided into grade levels, and there will be three sessions held. Each session costs $8. Classes will be held at Wheeler Community Center. Classes are Nov. 22, Dec. 6 and Jan. 3. Church bazaar
GILROY – The Gilroy United Methodist Church will hold its bazaar on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the corner of Fourth and Church streets from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The bazaar will feature a showcase of artistic needlework, culinary delights and an array of whimsical crafts. A luncheon will follow the Bazaar at 11:30 a.m. for a cost of $5. For more information, call 842-4021.
Toy drive
SAN MARTIN – San Martin Christmas Tree Farm is sponsoring a toy drive to benefit the San Martin Emergency Housing Consortium. Bring an unwrapped toy to the sales office at 13865 Monterey Road between the hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Details: 778-9951.
A Victorian Christmas
GILROY – A Victorian Christmas will come to the Willey Cultural Center, 140 Fifth St. in Gilroy, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Step into the past to see a Victorian-era Christmas recreated in downtown Gilroy. Attractions include craft demonstrations, make-your-own Christmas ornaments, a visit with Father Christmas, and more.
