DEAR EDITOR:

Bonfante Gardens is pleased to announce a community holiday celebration on Sunday, Dec. 8, to show appreciation for the support and devotion that the community has shown to Bonfante Gardens.

The park will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Admission is free. There will be a $2 parking fee. All of the rides have been shut down for the season, except the carousel, which will be running. Children will create Christmas ornaments free of charge to take home. Horse drawn cart rides, carriage rides and pony rides are also free, compliments of our wonderful Dr. Eric Cohen and Dennis Bright of Bright Ranch in San Martin.

Join in the children’s parade at 4:30 p.m. to begin the lighting of the trees and the park. Children and parents that wish to participate, may decorate their bikes, wagons, or dress up as Christmas characters, fairies, elves, or grinches. Call Joel Goldsmith at 847-6174 or Patti Hale at 847-4956 to participate.

We’ll have pictures with Santa ($5). You can shop at Halls, Red Barn and Holidaze, which will be open for you to browse and maybe purchase a gift or two.

There will be live entertainment on the Amphitheater stage featuring the GHS Chamber Choir, Garlic City Harmony Barbershop Quartet, Jumping for Joy, a local group of champion jump rope entertainers, The Fabulous Flappers, Laurie Gray’s Dance troupe and local talent, Damien Carter.

2003 season passes will be on sale at the Chamber Office on Dec. 7 and at Bonfante Gardens’ Sugar Plum on Dec 8 for $49. This is a $20 discount off the regular season pass price.

We are proud to support the downtown event on Dec. 7 with our float and the Bonfante Gardens’ Critters. We are also supporting the Gilroy Fire Department’s “Toys for Tots” Program. Donations for this program will be accepted at the front gate near the Gilroy Fire Engine.

Be sure to bring your own stroller or wheelchair as these will not be available from the park. Please join us on Sunday, Dec. 8.

We are looking forward to celebrating the holidays with you. Hope to see you there!

Patti Hale, Gilroy, on behalf of the Bonfante Gardens Board of Directors
