The 100 block of Southgate Court was blasted by nighttime gang shotgun fire for the second time in less than a month, police said.
At 9:50 p.m. Thursday night, police received a report of shots being fired on the small residential court from a car, police said. They responded to the call, but did not find the offenders or their vehicle. Nobody was injured in the shooting and no structures were damaged.
However, they did find shotgun casings and other, unspecified evidence of a shooting, police said. Witnesses said that the vehicle from which the shots were fired was a purple Honda sedan with tinted windows and chrome rims. Witnesses also said that the occupants of the vehicle yelled gang slogans during the incident.
Southgate Court was hit Nov. 17 with a similar shooting, according to police. During that incident, suspects in a vehicle also used a shotgun to shoot multiple rounds at a family’s garage at 1 a.m. on a Sunday. Nobody was injured in that shooting.
A couple on the street reported they saw a gray Cadillac sedan driving on the court prior to the incident, police said. At the time, police did not suspect the crime to be gang-related because the victimized family did not have apparent gang ties.
