The man accused of raping a 19-year-old mentally disabled man in a Miller Park bathroom will enter a plea in two weeks.
Gyasi Terran, 24, was scheduled to enter a plea this afternoon in a Santa Clara County courtroom but Superior Court Judge Teresa Guerrero-Daley continued the case at the request of the public defender handling the case. Terran is scheduled to enter a plea at his next court appearance at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 26 in Department 90.
“We will be pushing on this case to move forward,” said Deputy District Attorney Mark Hood.
Terran was arrested on suspicion of raping the teen in the early morning hours of June 4. According to police interviews and reports, an awkward sexual encounter ensued between the two, beginning with the promise of a cigarette. Terran told police the encounter was consensual, according to an interview transcript in the court file.
