A 29-year-old man was attacked with a blunt object and left lying in the road on the 7000 block of Eigleberry Street.

At 8:15 p.m. Aug. 10, police responded to what was reported as a vehicle accident on Eigleberry. Upon their arrival, they found that the initial report was inaccurate.

The victim, who was found lying in the road, was hit with a blunt object and sustained severe, but not life-threatening, injuries that required immediate medical care, police said. He was transported via air ambulance to a local trauma hospital.

Police do not know who the assailants are.

The incident is being investigated by the police department’s Anti-Crime Team to determine whether the assault was gang related.
