Geotechnical testing is scheduled to take place on the Uvas Creek Levee from Monday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 10. The testing will involve a two- to three-person crew collecting soil samples from the levee with a truck-mounted drill rig.
The purpose of the testing is to comply with federally mandated, nationwide testing of all levees for Federal Emergency Management Administration recertification. The levee trail will remain open for use by pedestrians and bicyclists; however they should be prepared to stop and walk by drilling equipment. Flaggers will be present to direct pedestrian traffic.
The work area includes the levee from Laurel Drive at the north end, to the end of the trail near the Gilroy Sports Park at the south end. Typical working hours will be between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
