Stolen speakers go with that stolen car
A man who stole a car spoiled his haul by getting greedy and taking two car speakers.
An employee of Kawahara Nurseries, 698 Burnett Ave., noticed two red speakers valued at $530 in the back of a black 1994 Pontiac Firebird in the parking lot, between 8:30 a.m. and noon Nov. 6. Later, a fellow employee said his speakers were missing and they called the sheriff’s office.
A deputy then spotted the vehicle – which was reported stolen out of Los Banos – on Peebles Avenue in Morgan Hill, 11:40 a.m. Friday. Raul Siles Toledo, 40, a transient, was seen nearby and was in possession of the ignition key. He was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Thief walks out with merchandise
Police are investing the theft of more than $100,000 in merchandise from the Karma Couture Boutique, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing.
The suspect broke a window Tuesday morning to get into the store, which recently moved from the downtown area to relocate in Vineyard Town Center. Once inside, the thief, perhaps unaware that he was being videotaped by a surveillance camera, loaded up on clothing, jewelry and electronics equipment.
Swing said the police department’s crime scene investigator was able to recover several items of evidence from the scene, and the investigation is active.
Anyone who saw the burglary or has information about it or the suspect can contact Detective Greg Dini at 776-7323.
