San Jose – Knowing Gilroy had no chance to qualify its team for one of the two Blossom Valley Athletic League spots, Mustang coach Wayne Scott mixed his lineup up, using combinations he will use in the C Division competition next week at Sobrato.
Scott acknowledged it weakened the team Tuesday but got individuals more use to playing with each other. Lincoln won the third-place showdown by defeating Gilroy 10-5.
For the Mustangs, Arthur Lee won 15-3, 15-9 at boys singles; Fernando Arellano and Jorge Fernandez won at boys doubles 15-13, 8-15, 15-2; Meiyi Liang and Cuimei Ma won at girls doubles 15-1, 15-5 as did Tracy Pham and Vindy Yang 15-5, 15-8; and Arianna Azevedo and Anthony Ualat won at mixed doubles 3-15, 15-4, 15-9.
Gilroy completes its BVAL regular season at 3:30pm Thursday with a match at Sobrato.
