The Gilroy Police Department is asking for public assistance to help solve an almost three-month old murder case.Â
Elpidio Morales Jr., 51, was gunned down near the intersection of Old Gilroy and Alexander streets in Gilroy at 9:33 p.m. Dec. 31, 2012. A dark colored sedan was seen fleeing the scene of the shooting, but it is still unknown whether the vehicle or its occupants were involved in the homicide, said Gilroy Police Sgt. Espinoza.
Officers arrived at the scene and located Morales lying in the street. He had been shot multiple times with an undisclosed caliber and unknown type of firearm. Gilroy Fire Department and Rural Metro Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and attended to Morales’ life threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries and passed away while being transported to a Bay Area trauma hospital by paramedics.
