Under the influence of a controlled substance

Brandon Lee Wentworth, 37, of Gilroy, 8:40 a.m. Monday, near Monterey and Second streets on a warrant out of San Francisco and for being under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of a methamphetamine pipe.

Jerry Sarmiento Luna, 22, of Gilroy, 11:34 a.m. Sunday, near San Martin and Lincoln avenues in San Martin for parole violation and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Possession of methamphetamine

Robin Hastie, 39, of San Martin, 9:43 a.m. Saturday, on the 12600 block of Harding Avenue in San Martin for possession of methamphetamine and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after police conducted a probation search.

Driver in possession of marijuana

John Arthur Burns, 19, of Gilroy, 1:28 a.m. Dec. 16, near Highway 152 and Camino Arroyo.

Other sheriff’s incidents

Burglary

The lock on the door of the admissions office and a window inside the financial aid office at Gavilan College, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., were broken but nothing was taken, between 5 p.m. Monday and 7:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Two laptops worth $700 were stolen from an unlocked house on the 8300 block of El Matador Drive, between 4 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The resident had left the garage door open slightly to let his cats enter and exit and believes the thief may have slipped under the door to get into his home.

The window of a trailer home was broken on the 10400 block of Dougherty Avenue in Morgan Hill and power tools, a Playstation and other items worth $1,250 were stolen from inside, between 9:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

An air compressor, air hose and air blower attachment worth $250 were stolen from an open garage on the 15400 block of Leann Court in Morgan Hill, between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 18.

Felony vandalism

An unknown person caused $7,600 in damages to a fence, 13 sections of irrigation pipe and half an acre of sod after the person drove across the Grass Farm property on Palm Avenue in Morgan Hill, between 12:30 and 6 a.m. Monday.

Commercial burglary

An empty cash register worth $500 and a credit dispenser worth $1,000 were stolen from the Gavilan College cafeteria, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., between 2:30 p.m.

and 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Illegal dumping

Deputies believe a 51-year-old Hayward man dumped a commercial amount of trash on the side of Half Road near Peet Road in unincorporated Morgan Hill, between 3 p.m. Nov. 19 and 7:30 a.m. Dec. 18. The man denied dumping the trash but the case has been submitted to the District Attorney for review.

Forgery

Deputies believe a 23-year-old Morgan Hill woman forged a check belonging to a Gilroy man who lost his wallet at a Gilroy restaurant and that she cashed the check at Mama’s Market in San Martin, between 8 and 9 a.m. Nov. 13.

Petty theft

A man’s mail was stolen from his mailbox on the 2800 block of Tohara Way in Morgan Hill, between 6:45 p.m. Dec. 14 and 8 a.m. Dec. 15.

Possession of heroin

Deputies are searching for a 34-year-old Nathan Page Tomasini of Gilroy who is on parole and who deputies believe was staying in a motel room on the 5300 block of Monterey Road where they found a hypodermic needle filled with heroin and the man’s identification. In the motel, they also found identification for a 50-year-old Cecelia Tomasini of Gilroy.
