A Gilroy man along the 2200 block of Bloomfield Avenue was
tricked out of $3,460 dollars Feb. 18 when he attempted to purchase
a 1994 Acura automobile through CriagsList, an online community
bulletin board. The victim used Ebay and Moneygram to send his
money, but the unidentified suspects never delivered the vehicle,
after which Ebay confirmed the scam was being run through
CraigsList. The suspects remain at large.

False identity
Mark Gale, of Arizona, 2 p.m. March 5, near 10th and Chesnut streets for drinking in public, giving a false name to a peace officer and probation violation.

Vehicle burglary
An unknown burglar entered the locked bed of a white 2005 Chevy pick-up along Meg Court by smashing the rear passenger side window, between 4 p.m. March 3 and 9:12 a.m. March 4. The suspect then stole a firearm. Police entered the weapon’s serial number into an automated system.
Grand theft
An unknown number of thieves stole a purse and its contents, worth more than $400, from a locked Dodge Durango parked in a driveway along the 4300 block of Hecker Pass Highway, between 10:10 p.m. March 2 and 6:20 a.m. March 4.

Fraud
An unknown person or persons attempted to cash several fraudulent checks in Alabama and Georgia issued from Monterey Mushroom, located along the 640 block of Hale Avenue in Morgan Hill, without the victim and true account holder’s knowledge, between 8 a.m. March 3 and 12:45 p.m. March 4.
Identity theft
An unknown thief or thieves used an unidentified person’s credit card without his or her permission to purchase more than $400 worth of merchandise from J&M Factory along Estates Drive in Gilroy, between 9 a.m. and 10:23 a.m. March 5.
Vandalism
An unknown vandal or vandals spray-painted a water tank near Sixth and Market streets in San Martin with black and red paint that read, “Senok” and “Osek,” between 10 p.m. Feb. 25 and 6 p.m. Feb. 26.
