The body of a dead Hispanic man was found outside a south Morgan Hill market Friday night.
Police responded to Southside Market & Liquor, 16715 Monterey Road about 9:15 p.m. Two witnesses reported finding the man behind a Dumpster in the back of the store, according to Morgan Hill Police Sgt. Bill Norman.
The man was about 50 years old. Police recognized him as having been booked locally in the past for “minor” crimes, but cannot release his name until the identity is confirmed, Norman said.
The cause of death is unknown, and police are investigating the scene. It is unknown how long the man’s body had been lying behind the store.
Norman said two customers of a Chinese restaurant next door to the market noticed the body while they were waiting in a parked car for a take-out order, and called police.
More details on this incident will follow throughout the weekend.
