Hollister Police have arrested two Hollister juveniles in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on July 6 near the 7-Eleven at the intersection of Hawkins and East streets, according to a press release from the department.

Armed with search warrants, police raided the homes of the 16- and 17-year-olds early Thursday morning. They are recommending charges of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy, and the suspects were booked into juvenile hall.

Both suspects have gang ties, and detectives plan to present gang enhancement reports to the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office in the next several weeks, police said.

The stabbing occurred around 11 p.m. outside the store on the 900 block of San Benito Street when a Hispanic male approached the 23-year-old male victim from Hollister and asked what he “claimed,” referring to a potential gang affiliation. The suspect then whistled over to four or five men to assist him in assaulting the victim.

They beat the victim with their fists, but were scared away by passing motorists who honked their horns, according to police. The victim then began walking on Hawkins Street. Near the intersection of East Street, the same group again assaulted the man with a baseball bat while stabbing him multiple times, according to police.

The victim was airlifted to a Bay Area hospital but survived.

There are at least two other suspects that are connected to this case. If you have any information, call the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330 or the WeTip hotline anonymously at (800) 78-CRIME.
