■ NO! My neighborhood was like a war zone with mostly safe and sane fireworks going off from dark to about 9:30 p.m. There were no fires nor any other emergency situation. Also, too many charities would be negatively impacted if there is a ban.
■ No, only because the fireworks for sale are not lethal and, especially for groups like the GHS cheerleaders, this is a vital fundraiser to provide opportunities for the squad to participate in activities that they otherwise could not have due to cost.
■ No. It’s the illegal ones that cause the problems.
■ No! This is a Gilroy tradition. Many community programs use this as a major fundraiser.
■ YES. Taking into consideration the number of responses our police and fire departments have made each year and the difficulty in deciding if people are using legal or illegal fireworks. While a ban would likely put a strain/hardship on the funding for some organizations, they will just have to find alternate sources.
