Gilroy – Police arrested two men stealing tools from a tool box in a pick-up truck early Thursday morning.
Valdemar Topete Verdusco, 36, of 300 McCarthy St., Hollister, and Joshua John Doyle, 21, a transient, were arrested on the 7100 block of Potomac Place, near Plymouth Drive, and booked on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property, both felonies.
A nearby resident called police about 4:25am Thursday, after seeing the men rifling through someone else’s pick-up truck.
When police arrived, they found the two men with burglary tools and suspected stolen property, mostly power and hand tools, in their vehicle.
Police said they would conduct an inventory of the items in the vehicle Thursday to determine if any of the tools are from similar pick-up truck burglaries that have occurred in the past week.
Doyle also was booked on suspicion of possessing a false identification, a felony; on felony warrants for burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle; and on misdemeanor warrants for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
