ONATRIO, Calif. – Daniel Puder is back and he’s ready to ground and pound.
The former pro wrestler makes his long-anticipated return to mixed martial arts on Saturday when he battles powerful heavyweight Jeff Ford in “Call to Arms 1.”
Their match is among several bouts scheduled for Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Doors for the Clean Kill-sponsored event open at 5 p.m. The fight can also be seen live by pay-per-view at www.fight5.com.
Puder long ago stamped himself as a triple threat in the fight game – an entrepreneur, entertainment mogul and superb MMA combatant. His focus these days is on the cage and he says he’s never been more determined entering a fight.
“I am absolutely thrilled and pumped to be here. I can’t even put it into words,” says Puder, adding that he is more than ready for the challenge after many months between bouts. “I can’t wait for May 16th. I can’t even sleep, it’s already like the night before Christmas for me. I’ve been working my butt off and I feel really strong and confident putting my undefeated record up against a fighter like Jeff Ford.”
Puder says MMA followers and industry insiders have welcomed him back to the cage but as far as he’s concerned, the cage was never far away.
“Listen, I have been talking to so many of my fans and they keep telling me, ‘glad to see you back in the fight,'” says Puder. “It’s nice to have people say these nice things, but I’m not here to be nice and, personally, I don’t feel like I ever left the fight game. The cage is home to me and I’m looking forward to making a huge impact with the audience, and more important, on my opponent.”
The event will also feature a main event with Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko dueling Jason “The Punisher” Lambert.
Other matches include: Brian Warren vs. Tiki Ghosn, George Karakhanyan vs. Albert Rios, Joe Camacho vs. Karen Darabedyan, Jay Silva vs. Reggie Orr, Jaime Fletcher vs. Matt Majors, Chad George vs. Kevin Dunsmor, Toby Grear vs. Saad Awad, Sevak Magakian vs. Anthony McDavitt, Joe Cronis vs. Brett Cooper, Francisco Rivera vs. Johnny Gomez.
Daniel Puder and his company, Fight 5, are proud to partner with the Luminous Group and Clean Kill to bring fans a “Call to Arms 1”, an MMA and Exclusive Internet Pay-Per-View event.
