Under the influence of a controlled substance

Mark Warren Thompson, 46, of Morgan Hill, 11:08 a.m. Saturday, near San Martin Avenue and Depot Street in San Martin for possession of methamphetamine and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Robert Charles Breakfield, 56, of Cave Junction, Ore., 9:55 a.m. May 5, at a truck stop on Monterey Road.

Michael Alan Davis, 42, of San Jose, 3:04 a.m. May 4, near Highway 152 and Watsonville Road.

Vandalism

A window was broken and two fire extinguishers were used inside a building on the 15100 block of Sycamore Drive in Morgan Hill, between 2 p.m. May 7 and 10 p.m. Friday.

A sharp instrument was used to scratch about 30 half-inch to 1-inch scratches into a 1999 black Mercedes E320 parked at a group home for boys on the 1900 block of Church Avenue in San Martin, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. April 27.

Theft by credit card

A Gilroy couple’s joint credit card account information was used to make several purchases at retail stores totaling $4,940, between 11:33 a.m. April 8 and 11:59 p.m. April 23.

Grand theft

A Gilroy woman was scammed out of $1,400, between 12 p.m. April 16 and 3:15 p.m. May 5, when she agreed to contract with a man who called her over the phone offering promotional services for businesses. The victim sent the man a check and, when she found out she had been scammed, she called the man and he hung up on her.
