The boys had a long trip to get to the match against York Wednesday, playing at the Chamisal Swim and Racquet club.
The Cougars had a pair of dramatic wins along the way, but ultimately fell 5-2.
The teams got an early start because they needed to be off the courts by 5 p.m. to accommodate the club’s membership.
The surprises of the day were No. 2 singles, Sam Fernandez and the No. 3 doubles team of Jimmy Collins and Julian Haro.
Fernandez won the first set and could have closed in the second, but the York player staged a comeback.
It went to a match tiebreak set and Fernandez was down 9-5, yet he pulled it all together and came back to win 11-9.
The No. 3 doubles team of Collins and Haro won the first set but lost the second.
In the match tiebreak, we did some position changes and CHS won the tie break 10-5.
Christopher was short a player, so the Cougars had to default No. 4 singles.
York took No. 1 singles in a back and forth match.
Isaiah Rugerio ran up against a backboard of a player and lost in two sets.
Hugh Ku played well at No. 3, but lost in two sets as well.
The doubles teams had some chances, but No. 1 doubles of Andrew Nguyen and
Nick Eaton lost the second set after going to a tiebreaker in the second.
The No. 2 doubles team of Michael Davelos and Matt Silva met its match, losing 6-2, 6-2.
Christopher will next play host to Oakwood 4 p.m. on Monday.
