Led by athlteic director Jon Sanchez, St Mary’s School held its annual Sports Awards ceremony for its winter basketball program.
The evening featured a ceremony saluting both the girls’ and boys’ teams from the fifth grade through eighth grade, as players were recognized for their seasons in front of coaches, teachers, parents, grandparents, fans and peers.
Special awards went to the fifth and sixth grade boys’ teams for winning their divisions. Both squads had their team names added to the basketball banner displayed in the St Mary’s gym.
In addition, the fifth grade boys team received a special honor – a star next to their team name on the banner – for going undefeated throughout the season.
Individual players were also honored by each team for their outstanding play on offense and defense, as well as team work and Improvement during the season.
