After a rowdy night of Cinco De Mayo partying, two people endured injuries during a large fight outside of Desero’s Tequila Town on Monterey Street on May 6 at 1:19 a.m.

One man was taken to a Bay Area hospital for a broken leg, another man was treated on the scene for minor injuries. Suspects fled the scene prior to police arriving, and victims were uncooperative with police, so no arrests were made. Police said that 80 to 90 people were gathered on the street, some fighting, others just watching.

Police Sgt. Chad Gallacinao said that he hopes City Council will take this incident into consideration when they consider the public dance ordinance.

“These are the potential issues that arise from having large dance venues downtown. Things like this affect the safety of the general community,” Gallacinao said.
