A word to the wise on ‘competitive’ teachers

Dear Editor.

Just wanted to make sure The Dispatch quoted Board of Education member David McRae correctly. Did one of our Gilroy Unified School district leaders actually say that teachers should be competitive, as in one teacher not sharing information with other teachers because of the fear of losing merit pay?

Wouldn’t “collaborative” have been a better word than “competitive?”
