Abandoned Building
“My call is about the building on the northwest corner of Fourth and and Monterey streets. I believe it was previously a bank building. Workers started working on that some time ago and now it sits pretty ugly and abandoned, and almost destroyed. My question is, will its completion coincide with the completion of the downtown streetscape?”
Red Phone:
Well caller, it took a little time, but Red Phone was finally able to get to the bottom of this. It eventually got to most direct source, the owner of the building, David McCain.
“The problem right now is the financing of the building,” he said.
McCain was not satisfied with the terms his original bank gave him, and is now in the process of re-financing through a different bank. Because there was no financing, he had to put a temporary hold on the process, and as quickly as the financing is complete, the project will restart, which is hopefully within a couple of months. McCain also said that when the building is complete it is the hopeful new location of a future Century Home Su Casa.
And caller, as far as coinciding with the completion of the downtown streetscape, hopefully the downtown progress will stick to its new deadline of Nov. 22, which should be well in advance of the completion of the new Century Home Su Casa, but Red Phone advises for you not to hold your breath.
road repair
“I’d like to ask that some statement be made in the paper about the northend of Mesa Road. It needs to be repaired and resurfaced, thank you.”
Red Phone:
It passed your message along to the proper authorities, and hopefully they will look into it. As far as a getting a statement in the paper, see above.
