The Alisal Trojans had too many weapons for Gilroy High’s varsity boys basketball team Thursday, winning the Tri-County Athletic League matchup 65-45.

Christian Camacho led the Trojans with 20 points, finding room to operate inside and out.

“Not getting out on the three-pointers, that hurt us a lot,” GHS assistant coach Jeremy Dirks said.

Alisal hit nine in the contest.

Derek Jensen led the Mustangs with 13 points and was the lone Gilroy player to reach double-figures scoring. Justin Wheat and Tyler Hartman added eight points for Gilroy with Kendrick Azcueta (6), Marshad Johnson (5), Jeremy Damon (4) and Stephen Galtman (2) rounding out all GHS scorers.

The Mustangs are now 7-14 overall, 1-5 in the TCAL.

Gilroy’s next game is Monday at home at 7 p.m. against Palma.

Junior Varsity Note:

Gilroy’s junior varsity boys basketball team beat Alisal 59-50.

Michael Hartman led the Mustangs with 15 points to go with six rebounds, Delopo Opere had 5 points and 14 rebounds, and Raul Quintanar had 11 points, including a basket from beyond halfcourt.
