A recap of Gilroy’s lopsided win

On a night when several Mustangs stood out, the team’s senior quarterback led the way. In his best game to date, Mickartz completed 8-of-12 passes for 117 yards and three touchdowns. His two TD passes in the first quarter sparked Gilroy on its way to a 35-13 romp at Watsonville.
Hit of the Game: It was too hard to just choose one. In Gilroy’s blowout win, safety Justin Sabla and cornerbacks Shea Lemos and Jay Raven all had bone-jarring hits that had the Mustangs’ sideline buzzing.
Oops of the Game: If there was a downside to Gilroy’s runaway win, it was the bevy of yellow flags in the air. The ‘Stangs were penalized 11 times for 115 yards.
“It’s definitely something we’re going to have to work on,” head coach Darren Yafai said.
