Hey Readers: The word’s out that an old problem may be gradually resurfacing. Longtime readers will recall the numerous phone calls and great lengths the Red Phone went to get Union Pacific Railroad to fix the road bed at the rail crossing on Highway 25, just north of the county line. And after a mere 338 days of badgering, they finally did it. That was two months ago.
The honeymoon is over. As you can see by the photo, the road is already starting to break up. Two months! For Pete’s sake, UP, what’s up with that? How long will it be before the road again crumbles to dust?
If you want to register your concern about the matter, call John Bromley, Union Pacific Director of Public Affairs, at 402-544-3475 (office) or 402-305-0838 (cell). Let’s see if we can fix this small problem before it becomes a big one – and we have to wait another 338 days.
Country complaints: “Hi, I’m a Dispatch reader and I’m calling because I live in the country and I only get recycling service from the garbage company two times per month instead of every week. I want to know why that is and who is in charge of negotiating the deals with the garbage company. I think people in the country should be able to recycle every week, especially if we’re doing a good job recycling. Thank you.”
Thanks for the call. The Red Phone has recently received a few complaint calls about garbage service in the country and because of such, a Dispatch reporter is all over it. Stay tuned for an upcoming article.
Belly buster: “Hi, I just got a royal belly laugh out of the name of your article on Page three on Wednesday, June 15: ‘Club helps disabled fish for a day.’ Isn’t our language funny? Bye.”
Sometimes it is, even when it’s not meant to be. The editor who came up with that gem got a good ribbing from the rest of the staff. Thanks for letting the Red Phone know the headline brought you a chuckle.
