GILROY – Anritsu improved to 11-0 in regular season play Thursday at Christmas Hill Park with a 7-6 edging of the Hit Crew in Men’s E Softball League action.
Anritsu earned the second-half E title with a 5-0 mark and two-game edge over the Hit Crew entering the final week of play. Anritsu will play either Pacific Coast Bail Bonds or the Hit Crew in the best 2-of-3 championship series during the week of July 13-17.
The Hit Crew jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Marc Vegas hit a two-out RBI-triple and scored on a Tyler Maslanka home run. Matt Maslanka made it 4-0 with an RBI-double. Anritsu earned three runs in the first, keyed by an Aaron Miller RBI-triple.
Anritsu snapped a 6-6 tie in the sixth when Cesar Lopez singled and scored on a Ray Avena double. Anritsu stopped further Anritsu scoring by turning a triple play.
Anritsu’s showing in second-half E play left VFW Bingo and Team Hair FX tied for the first-half Men’s EE title.
Bingo and Team Hair FX will play at Christmas Hill Park at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 for the first-half pennant and a spot in the championship series.
Trevino Brothers Construction (3-2) added a 7-2 victory over the Gilroy Honda Pilots. Jason Bautista (3-for-4) scored three runs. Chris Milosovich went 2-for-3 for the Pilots.
New Hope Community Church ended the half at 4-2 with a forfeit win over Assassins.
VFW Bingo finished the second half of the EE League at 5-1 with a forfeit win over Heinzen Manufacturing.
Team Hair FX and the OG’s, each at 4-1, could tie Bingo with wins on July 2.
Joel Torres hit two homers, Eric Gebhardt one and three singles as Team Hair FX defeated the Good Ole Boys 23-6. Kris Puthoff homered and tripled for the Boys.
The OG’s stopped Bad News Block 29-4 as TJ Loebig hit two grand slams. Trent Mason tripled and singled for the Bad News Block.
Tax Systems claimed the second-half Men’s D Softball League title Friday with a 16-13 nod over the Bike Center at Las Animas Park.
Tax Systems (5-0) will face the Hit Men in the best 2-for-3 championship series the week of July 13-17 for the season crown.
Tom Karambela and Daniel Hernandez hit consecutive home runs in the top of the final inning as Tax Systems secured a two-game lead with one game left in the regular season.
Karambela and Hernandez each scored four runs. Ryan Velasco went 4-for-4 for the victors.
Ismael Rico homered and Alex Garcia scored four runs for Bike Center.
The Bomb Squad finished the half at 3-3 with a 29-13 victory over Victoria’s Italian Deli.
Addison Quach powered two homers, Cesar Vasquez added one and David Espinoza stroked five extra-base hits for the Squad. Kevin Giordenengo went 4-for-5 for the Deli.
Frank Vargas Taxes clinched at least a tie for the second-half Co-Rec B title Sunday with an 18-0 win over Blackout Window Tinting.
Mark Terrill and KC Adams each went 4-for-4 for the 5-0 victors, Steve Aguirre 2-for-2 for Blackout.
RSW Racing (4-1) trimmed Gaeta’s Ballers 9-5 as Anthony Lucio stroked three hits and Jerry Johnston scored three runs. Johnny Andrade went 4-for-5 for Gaeta’s.
Team Hair FX is 5-0 atop the Co-Rec C League after a 15-8 decision over the Big Kahunas. AJ Martinez went 4-for-4, Jenn McBain bagged a three-run double and Kenny Gordon scored four FX runs.
Alex Rodosky went 3-for-5 and scored two Kahuna runs.
Josh Coy’s RBI-single in the final frame lifted El Fuego past Anritsu 12-11. Ray Avena went 3-for-3 for the losers.
Out to Play-Pro Electric blanked Hi-Energy Networks 15-0 behind three Angie Macedo RBI.
Laura Cole went 2-for-3 for Hi-Energy Networks.
