Armando “Pete” Badillo died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, in Morgan Hill. He was 65.

Mr. Badillo was born on Sept. 11, 1938, in Sonora, Texas where he was raised.

He graduated from Sonora High School where he held the pole vault record for 12 years after graduation.

Mr. Badillo attended Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.

He was in the United States Army Infantry during the Cuban Missile Crisis and received an honorable discharge.

Mr. Badillo was a master builder; he was featured in the San Jose Mercury News for the restoration of a historical windmill in Gilroy. He was very knowledgeable in history and current events, and he was always ready to share his knowledge with others.

His family knew him for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Leonora Badillo; sons, Peter Badillo and wife Susan, Javier Badillo and wife Iris, and Armando Badillo; daughters, Norma Fournier and husband Joshua, Genovea Badillo and Hortencia Badillo; brothers, Leandro Badillo and Richard Badillo; sisters, Ofelia Perez, Juanita Berlanga, Manuela Vargas, Tome Sanchez, Anna Cardona, Gina Gamez and Pauline Mendez; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:30pm, Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 17400 Peak Ave., Morgan Hill.
