Travel ball team participates in 92-team tournament, places
25th.
The Silicon Valley Storm 10U travel baseball team competed in a 92-team national tournament at Cooperstown Dream Park in Cooperstown, New York last month.

The tournament featured teams from 24 states in a six-game pool play format followed by single-elimination bracket play.

The SV Storm faced teams from Florida, Washington, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Indiana and New York.

After pool-play, SV Storm found itself ranked 32nd with a overall record of 4-2.

In the first game of single-elimination bracket play, SV Storm took on the Maine Blizzards, beating them 13-1, advancing to play No. 29-seeded Riestertown Express from Maryland.

Down 2-0 heading into the top of the sixth inning, a Billy Mazotti walk preceded singles from Nathan Medrano, Ryan Belluomini and Lucas Schmidt resulting in a 3-2 victory.

SV Storm then moved on to the third game of the day against No. 4-seed Pembroke Lakes Bulldogs from Florida.

Leading 1-0 at the bottom of the fourth, Pembroke’s bats came alive, posting five runs.

Despite scoring one run in the sixth, the Storm ran out of fire power, losing 6-3.

SV Storm finished 25th out of 92 teams with an overall record of 6-3. The SV Storm exceeded expectations with a total team effort from, Alex Benevides, Nolan Cisewski, Dylan Holler, Derek Petersen, PJ Rochon, DJ Washington and Mikey Yamaguma, respectively.

During the King of Swat skills competition, Lucas Schmidt finished third with 2 home runs in the championship round.
