A five-run bottom of the fifth inning erased a 7-4 deficit as the Gilroy High baseball team rallied past visiting Gunn 11-7 in non-league action Saturday in Gilroy.

The Mustangs compensated for four defensive blunders with busy bats at the plate and on the greediness on base paths, racking up eight hits and 11 stolen bases.

Jordan Dexter, Matt Brotholic and Aaron Cimino each had a pair of RBI. Dexter also had three hits while Reed Kienle swiped three bases.

The back-and-forth scoring started early with each squad posting a run in the first inning. GHS led 4-3 after two but the Titans plated four unanswered to take the 7-4 advantage.

Brendon Holler was credited with the win on the mound, spelling starting pitcher Ryan Alba in the fourth. Jesse Martinez recorded the save.

Gilroy improves to 3-0 on the young season and jumps into Tri-County Athletic League play Tuesday at Salinas. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Hartnell College.
