League action on a crystal clear Friday afternoon in Gilroy.

“That’s the one I wanted right there,” manager Johnny Ramirez said.
The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. The two teams continue a two-game set today at 11 a.m. in Salinas.
An RBI sacrifice fly by Jordan Dexter to plate Jordan Holler for the Mustangs’ first run of the game opened the flood gates to the monster first inning.
Neil Dinsmore drove in Brent Newton with a single to left, and Reed Kienle had a two-run single. The Mustangs also capitalized on an Eagles’ error, which brought in two more runs.
Eric Vegas (2 for 2, four RBI) rode a fastball over the left-field fence in the second inning for his first home run of the season, pushing the score to 10-0, and Bubu Garcia (2 for 3, two RBI) went deep off the scoreboard in left field for his third four-bagger of the year to make it 13-0 in the third.
Kienle finished the day 2 for 2 with two RBI. Holler scored four times, going 2 for 3, including a RBI double in the fourth.
Michael Hartman did not allow a hit in his three innings of work on the mound to pick up the win, striking out three and walking three in the process. Eric Brolin pitched the final two innings, surrendering an unearned run and three hits while striking out two Eagles.
After today’s game, the Mustangs (11-6-1, 7-2 TCAL) enter a crucial two-week stretch of the season, starting with two games against first-place San Benito (12-4, 8-0 TCAL). The first game will be in Hollister on Tuesday and the second in Gilroy on Friday.
