Gilroy – A benefit luncheon is being held today to raise money to support Community Solutions efforts in the South County to provide services to families and individuals focused on turning their lives around.

The nonprofit group’s annual “Helping Hands & Healing Hearts” awards luncheon recognizes an individual who, with the help of Community Solutions’ counseling, education, housing and crisis intervention programs, has overcome adversity and is on track to becoming a productive member of the community.

This year’s recipient is Patricia Lezama, a Univision 67 television anchor who enlisted the aid of Community Solutions Sexual Assault Program to overcome devastating emotional scars from childhood molestation.

She now uses her story to help others break their silence about sexual assault. The Healing Heart award is being given to Lezama for her courage and strength, said Erin O’Brien, president of Community Solutions.

For information on the luncheon, contact Lisa DeSilva at 776-6212 or e-mail her at li***@****************ns.org.
