Thursday, April 17
VFW Bingo upset Claddagh Brew Crew 13-8 Thursday to drop the Crew into a tie for first place in Men’s EE play at Las Animas Park.
Vinnie Randazzo and Adam Kirkpatrick each delivered a two-run hit as VFW Bingo (3-2) struck for six runs in the fifth inning for a 13-1 lead.
Kirkpatrick added a three-run home run, Steve Lemberger a solo shot for Bingo. Parker Hathaway homered and Mike Keith went 3-for-4 for 3-1 Claddagh.
The Good Ole Boys joined Claddagh in first at 3-1 with a 28-13 win over ConAgra.
Rich Halvarson went 6-for-6 and Kris Pothoff blasted two homers in a 5-for-6 night for the Good Ole Boys. David Tripathi netted a home run, triple and two singles for the winners. Sat Regalado homered and Martin Serrano laced a three-run triple for ConAgra.
Team Beefy locked up a 12-11 victory over the Assassins with a three-run rally in the top of the seventh inning.
Rick Berhorst stroked a two-out, two-run double and scored on a Joe Mata single in the Beefy seventh stanza. Dustin Robinson and Berhorst each finished with four hits. Jason Corona homered and Ivan Acevedo hit a two-run homer for the Assassins.
Walton & Sons Masonry reached 5-0 in Men’s E action Thursday at Christmas Hill Park with a 16-6 decision over the South Valley Community Church Sons of Thunder.
Tim Graves and Marc Vegas each homered for the pace-setters. Steve Montez added a double and two singles to the Walton mix. Rich Chavez homered for the Sons of Thunder.
Westside Grill, prepping for the showdown with Walton & Sons on May 1, defeated the Chippendales 15-8 as Val Puntanilla hit a grand slam, Fred Tovar a three-run poke to snap an 8-8 tie in the top of the seventh.
Aaron Vega homered and Alex Vega produced two doubles for Westside. Paul Bianchi homered and Russell Emeterio went 3-for-4 for the Chippendales.
Oscar Robles doubled and scored on a Manuel Rivera single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Bomb Squad past New Hope Community Church 18-17.
Tai Quach and Hugo Arredondo each delivered two singles and scored twice as the Squad tallied 12 runs in the sixth inning. Robles went 5-for-5, Arredondo 4-for-4. Clark Poulsen homered and Patrick Johnson went 4-for-5 for New Hope.
Tuesday, April 15
Feather Haven upset the Players 22-16 Tuesday to create a three-team tie for first place in the Men’s DD play at Las Animas Park.
Ricky Gonzalez, the league batting leader at .786, went 5-for-6 as Feather Haven joined the Players and Titans at 3-1 with two weeks left in the first half.
Dave DeCarlo and Gonzalez each lined two singles as Feather Haven scored nine runs in the second for a 10-5 lead. The Players quickly fought back for five runs and a tie in the third. Feather Haven regained the lead with six-run outbursts in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Jessie Nunez and Rob Rocha each delivered four hits and Brett Scott homered for the winners. Danny Granados went 4-for-4 with a home run for the Players.
The Titans scored eight runs in the top of the first inning and held off Wicked 18-16 in a battle of 2-1 teams.
Vance Lee opened the scoring with a two-run home run and Paul Brummitt added a two-run single for the Titans in the opening frame. Lee Pappas, Jerry Zimmerman and Steve Welch provided Titan homers. Wicked exploded for 13 runs in the sixth inning before going scoreless in the final at-bat. Armando Hernandez went 3-for-3 for 2-2 Wicked.
John O’Neill and Mike Leslie hit consecutive home runs in a 14-run second inning to help Trevino Brothers Construction by Pacific Coast Bail Bonds 26-10.
O’Neill went 4-for-4 and Cavin Brown homered, tripled and singled for the Builders. Juan Contreras homered and Arturo Begines went 3-for-3 for Pacific Coast.
Pizza N’ Stuff upset Harvey’s Body Shop 12-9 Wednesday to leave both clubs at 2-1 atop the Men’s CC League standings at Las Animas.
Dave Lujan Sr., Mark Merz, Kai Otto and Ryan Evanger each lashed three hits to key the Pizza offense. Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-3 for Harvey’s.
Chris Wong powered a grand slam and Chris Velador delivered three singles as Blackout Window Tinting trimmed the Platinum Roofing Slammers 13-11. Jose Andrade and Rich Luna each posted a double and two singles for the Slammers. Eddie Castaneda scored three runs.
Dee’z Nutz shook off a 12-0 deficit in the first inning to surprise HD Auto Glass-Hard Ninety 20-19 in Men’s BB play Wednesday.
Roger Hernandez singled and doubled in the top of the first as Glass-Ninety grabbed the 12-0 edge. Dee’z Nutz responded with seven runs in the first, then utilized a two-run home run from Willie Gamboa to score six in the third for a 13-12 lead. Rob Silva homered and Guillermo Gamboa scored four runs for Dee’z. Hernandez added two home runs to finish with eight RBI for the losers.
Draeger Construction is 3-0 in Women’s League play after a 17-7 nod over Goldsmith Wednesday at Christmas Hill Park.
Liz Talavera homered twice in a 4-for-4 showing for Draeger. Liz Adams collected four hits and Vanessa Pena went 3-for-3 and scored three runs for the winners. Norma Wendt singled and doubled, while Nicole Villarreal cracked a two-run double for Goldsmith.
The Mean Girls reached 3-0 with a 19-1 win over Kay’s Kids-RSW Racing. Alicia Hernandez went 4-for-4 and Elena Ayala added two triples and a single to the Mean cause. Keily Sheppard singled and scored the Kay’s-RSW run.
Ms. BeHaving topped T&H Pools 22-1 behind four Kathy Bennett hits. Kathy Misenheimer drove in the T&H run with a single.
