GILROY—The boys water polo teams at Gilroy and Christopher High schools have spent the summer practicing. Now, the Garlic City boys are ready for action and they’ll kick off the competitive season with a game against one another.
GILROY—Change is in the water at Gilroy and Christopher High schools. At Gilroy, there’s a new skipper leading the Mustangs, and at Christopher, the Cougars are bracing for a tough test against new opponents in the upper Gabilan Division of the Monterey Bay League.
GILROY—While other football players around the state snuggled up in their beds and dreamt of the first day of practice, the Cougars were strapping on their shoulder pads. Not a millisecond of practice time was wasted at Christopher High School. The instant the clock struck midnight on Aug. 14, ending the two-week mandatory “dead period,” the team was on the field to usher in the start of a new year for prep sports.

GILROY—A Gilroy man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence Tuesday night after his Mustang plunged into a ditch off Leavesley Road, killing three Gilroy high school girls and a young man and seriously injuring himself, authorities reported.
An explosive national news story involving the sexual battery and subsequent suicide of 15-year-old Audrie Pott, a Saratoga High School sophomore, touched down at Christopher High School Thursday morning when a 16-year-old juvenile was arrested on campus in connection with the alleged crime.
