Huge thanks to Main Street Media for giving FOSMAS (Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter) our very own blog!   We’ll post a couple of times a week about local dog and cat events, adoption fairs, lost and found animals, animals that need to be re-homed, and adoptable animals in our foster homes or at the shelter.

This 8-week-old Siamese mix male kitten has an extra toe on each front paw. The cost to adopt him is $85 and includes neuter and his first vaccination. Contact the Hollister Animal Care and Services, 1331 South St., Hollister or call (831) 636-4320.

Bee is a 9-year-old calico cat who is sweet, quiet and loves to be held. She would be the perfect companion cat. She has been at the San Martin Animal Shelter since January. Call (408) 686-3900.  

Three 8-week-old kittens are available for adoption from Hollister Animal Care and Services, 1331 South St., Hollister. $80 includes spay/neuter and first vaccinations. Open Monday through Friday, 12 to 5 p.m. Details: (831) 636-4320.

The Pet Friends 5th Annual WagnWalk fundraiser is coming up, on June 22nd, 2013. It will be held at the Granite Rock Southside Quarry, in conjunction with the Granite Rock Open House there. Chose either the 5K run for two-legged competitors, or the 5k walk with or without your four-legged friend. Sweetie-pie says he'll be there, probably with his buddy Sammy. Powder is available for adoption at Pet Friends. He is an older Flame-point Siamese cat, but he's not the talker that many Siamese cats are. He's kind of shy at first, but does warm up to people he is familiar withand loves a neck rub. He's usually relaxing on a cat tree in the cat room at Pet Friends; but would love to have a sunny spot at a home of his own. He's not agressive with other cats, and would love to have a quiet home of his own. Come by Pet Friends at 2975 Buena Vista Road in Hollister to see him in the cat room. Ozzie is a 5-year-old terrier who is sweet, mellow and would be best with adults. He loves to explore, go for walks and is great on a leash. He has been at the San Martin Animal Shelter since January. Interested? Call (408) 686-3900.

While many of us would like to believe our little puppy is fearless, the truth is that there are many things a pet will experience that may frighten it at first as it attempts to understand more.
