Elliott is a sweetheart at FOSMAS' Petco Gilroy adoption center. Originally skin-and-bones and dehydrated, he has blossomed into a healthy kitten. Cosmo is a 6-year-old cat who has been declawed, so he is an indoor only cat. He is loving, gentle and good with other cats. More than 1,200 Silicon Valley animals need a home for the holidays.  Silicon Valley animal shelters are launching “Shelters First” (www.sheltersfirst.org), an awareness campaign that targets the 67% of Santa Clara county households that love pets – encouraging everyone to find their next pet at a shelter.  (That’s over 400,000 families!)  Currently, only 25% of pet owners adopt from shelters.

Cotton is a beautiful white kitten that are available for adoption at Pet Friends. She is a playful kitten, and loves to chase toy balls around the floor. Her mother was feral, but the kittens are people-friendly now, with the personal attention they get at Pet Friends.

Apropos of Thanksgiving and their namesakes, Turkey Vultures are a very social and family-oriented bird, gathering together to share a meal (which doesn’t include pumpkin pie—WERC’s educational vulture Zorro, above, is just checking out whether the squash makes a suitable perch).

Munchkin is a loving little girl with a great disposition.  When she first came to the FOSMAS Adoption Center at Petco Gilroy a few months ago she was a little shy, but she came out of her shell after a few weeks.    Now she’ll come and sit in your lap and purr sweetly for you while you pet her.  Like any kitten or young cat she values her play time and would be very happy if you would play string with her or use the laser pointer to give her something to chase.
