HONORS: Caitlyn Pierotti: Caitlyn “Cat” Pierotti was recently honored at Kentucky State University with the Outstanding Seniors in Journalism Award along with making Dean’s List (Spring/Fall).
HONORS: Jason Anders: First Lt. Jason Anders, USMC, recently returned to California after completing a seven month tour in Afghanistan. Anders worked with the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine as they advanced our country’s mission.
ENGAGEMENT: Porter/Gregory: Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Gregory of Redmond, Ore., announce the engagement of Mr. Gregory’s daughter Brandy Jo Gregory to Joseph Matthew Porter, son of Robert and Cynthia Porter, of Gilroy.
BIRTHDAY: Eliodora Rios: Eliodora "Lola" Rios, longtime resident of Gilroy, turned 91 April 4. She was born in Del Rio, Texas, in 1921, and moved to Gilroy with her late husband, George Rios, and their 11 children in 1971. She enjoys her garden and spending time with her family.
HONORS: Ayoung Kim: Ayoung Kim of Morgan Hill, a Northeastern University student majoring in pharmacy, was recently named to the university's dean's list for the fall semester, which ended in December 2011.
BIRTHDAY: Peter Musachia: Local World War II veteran Peter Musachia turned 90 years old on March 7. Pete celebrated March 10 at the Westside Grill surrounded by friends and family. Pete fought in World War II and invaded Omaha Beach in the invasion of Normandy on 1944. He is not only a hero to the United States, but he a hero to his family.
BIRTH: Blake Dean Haygood: Blake Dean Haygood was born Feb. 18, 2012 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital to Vanessa Camacho and Chad Haygood of Gilroy. He weighed 8 pounds.
Nathaniel Batey: Nathaniel Batey, Troop 709, was honored at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor March 4. For his project, he refurbished Live Oak High School's six water polo cages and meter markers. He would like to thank his family, fellow Live Oak water polo players, coach, scouts and leaders of Troop 709 who helped him complete this project and attain this award.
BIRTHS: Isabella Rae Hatch was born Feb. 13, 2012 at Saint Louise to Evelyn Castillo-Hatch and Christopher Hatch of Gilroy. She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces.
