The Gilroy High boys basketball team wrapped up third place at
the Aptos Invitational with a 67-50 triumph over San Lorenzo Valley
on Saturday.
In a game head coach Matt Tait said was the team’s best all-around effort of the young season, the Gilroy High boys basketball team wrapped up third place at the Aptos Invitational with a 67-50 triumph over San Lorenzo Valley on Saturday.
Senior Cameron Yawary, who is off to a blistering start this season, registered a game-high 22 points. Yawary capped the weekend stay on the coast with a spot on the All-Tournament team.
The Mustangs bounced out to a 17-5 first-quarter lead and carried a 34-27 advantage into halftime. Gilroy returned to the floor in the third and posted its highest scoring quarter with 19 points to take a 53-37 lead as the fourth got underway.
Seniors Cameron Harrell and Chima Ikeme also had productive Saturday’s, contributing 11 points and 15 points, respectively.
The Mustangs visit Christopher High on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
