Mario Maciel and Ed DeLeon each bagged three hits to highlight a 17-run first inning as California Overhead opened the Men’s D League softball season with a 23-7 victory over Gamers In Control Friday at Christmas Hill Park.
Mario Gallardo and Art Tomasetti each went 5-for-5 to propel Overhead. Joel Robinson garnered two doubles for Gamers In Control.
The Loco Boys charged to a 12-0 lead in the second inning and held off Team Hair FX 14-12.
Team Hair FX pitcher Gilbert Ramirez retired 15 consecutive Loco Boys batters as Team Hair FX pulled to within one run, 12-11, after six innings. Mike Pellicione gave the Loco Boys breathing room in the seventh with a two-run home run. Alex Pena homered and Bubba Lara tripled and doubled for the Loco Boys. Keith Muraoka and Marc Rodriguez each went 5-for-5 for Team Hair FX.
Joe Brotherton hit for the cycle and added a sacrifice fly as Humboldt Brewing topped Los Pistoleros 24-13. Bruce Hanna laced two doubles and a single for the Brewers. Tito Flores powered two home runs, Cuco Chavez one for Los Pistoleros.
Fernando Espinoza hit two home runs and Daniel Montenegro homered in a five-hit effort as the VFW Vets defeated Campbell’s Towing 21-6. Jayson Morton and Lance Hedrick each mustered three hits for Campbell’s Towing.
Northbound rushed to a 9-1 lead after one inning and stopped the NorCal Regulators 19-16 in Men’s BB play Friday at Las Animas Park. Johnny Salgado went 4-for-4 with a home run and Benji Dequin and Bobby Granados added four-baggers for the winners. Ruben Martinez went 4-for-5 for the Regulators.
Cris Adame’s RBI-single with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning sent Dutchman’s Pizza past Dee’z Nutz 18-17. Jose Avila hit a three-run homer as Dutchman’s scored six runs in the seventh stanza. Adame went 5-for-5 and Shannon Fernandez homered in a 4-for-4 effort. Rico Lopez and Greg Lucio each homered for Dee’z.
Jim Sands went 3-for-3 and Tim Pierleoni tripled and singled to help Frank Vargas Taxes and Financing by Team Coconut 10-9 in Co-Rec B play Sunday at Las Animas. Anthony Corral went 3-for-4 and scored twice for Vargas Taxes. Bobby Reggiani went 3-for-3 and Ryan Dequin homered and doubled for the Coconuts.
Ruben Ramirez hit three home runs to lead Pacific Coast Bail Bonds past Team Strike 15-5.
Daniel Salinas poked a homer, triple and double for the Bondsmen. Jen McBain doubled and singled for Team Strike.
